Pokemon Go July Spotlight Hour: Staryu Shiny Status, Bonuses & More

We are midway through the month and a number of exciting events have already taken place in Pokemon Go including this month’s Spotlight Hour.

For the penultimate Spotlight Hour of 2022, we have Staryu as the featured Pokemon. As usual, players will be able to spot Staryu more often in the wild as the spawn rate increases dramatically during the course of the event. The event kicks off at 6 pm local time and players have until 7 pm local time to make the most of the event. While we have seen a number of exciting Pokemon in the past, this week’s offerings might not be something many players would be looking forward to. That being said, if you are still looking to add Staryu to your collection or want to collect enough candy to evolve it, this is the best time to do so.

When it comes to the bonus for this week’s Spotlight Hour, players will be getting twice the amount of Candy they usually get while transferring Pokemon. This bonus has the same duration as the event, and it applies to all Pokemon and is not just restricted to Staryu. So even if you don’t want Staryu, you can use this event to collect candies for other Pokemon.

Finally, coming to the shiny status of Staryu, the shiny variant of Pokemon is available in Pokemon Go. A regular Staryu is brown in color, but a green one is significantly different as it is green in color. So it shouldn’t be hard to spot a shiny variant, unlike some other Pokemon. Once again, the shiny rates aren’t boosted during the event, but with the increased frequency of spawn of these Pokemon, it should make your task significantly easier.
