Warner Bros. Games has announced today that the MultiVersus open beta will begin later this month and, depending on what your prior is with the upcoming brawler, you could be playing as early as July 19th.

There are two start dates for the MultiVersus open beta: July 26th, which is for everybody, and July 19th, which is the Early Access date for those who took part in the closed alpha/nabbed a code via Twitch Drops.

So, what’s the open beta all about? It’s your chance to get hands-on with Warner Bros. Games’ Super Smash Bros. style brawler at no cost. The beta will include eight maps to duke it out on, as well as a robust roster of characters, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Shaggy, Velma, Bugs Bunny, and more. There will be a total of 16 playable characters to get to grips with during this free demonstration, but rest assured that there will be more well-known Warner Bros. characters joining the fight throughout the game’s lifespan.

Naturally, the big draw of MultiVersus is in its competitive play, so expect a slew of online modes such as 2 vs. 2, 1 vs. 1, 4-player free for all, custom online matches, and even A.I opponents if you prefer. If you want to hone your skills and learn each character’s move set before taking the fight online, or even offline with local multiplayer, there’s The Lab which is essentially a practice mode, as well as a bunch of tutorials to teach you the basics and the more advanced battle tactics.

To celebrate the news of the incoming MultiVersus open beta, Warner Bros. Games has released another gameplay trailer showing off, er, gameplay? There are also the little extras that players will get to enjoy, like the variants of each character, unlockable skins, emotes, game modes, and much more.

There is still no set-in-stone MultiVersus release date just yet, but it can’t be that far off if Warner Bros. Games is OK with letting the gaming world take the game for a spin.
