July 7, 2022

It has been confirmed by Netflix that a brand new live-action series of Death Note is in the works, with Netflix teaming up with the Duffer Brothers for the new project.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an anime aficionado or share no relation with the anime community at all; Death Note is a name every person has heard of. The show ran from October 2006 to June 2007 with a total of 37 episodes. And to this date, we are yet to see any better psychological thriller and mystery anime. Given the mark that Death Note has left on the anime community, several movies and live-action projects have taken place after the anime series.

Apart from Death Note, several other projects are also in production. These include the Stranger Things spin-off series, a new stage play related to Stranger Things, and a series adaptation of The Talisman, a famous novel by Stephen King and Peter Straub.

Just recently, Duffer Brothers announced their new production company by the name Upside Down Pictures. The new production house is set up to release films and TV shows, especially for Netflix. This comes after their deal with the streaming platform. The news also confirms that Hilary Leavitt will be running the new company.

After the announcement of the new production house, the list of its upcoming projects also started coming out. Among all the other projects, Death Note live-action adaptation is one of them. The news comes from the official Twitter handle of Netflix.

Right after the announcement was made by Netflix on Twitter, the news spread like fire. Fans are sharing different opinions on the upcoming project. While some fans are excited to relive the memories of Death Note, others believe that a live action-adaptation might not justify the show’s greatness.

Fans consider the previous Netflix’s Death Note live-action movie as one of the biggest disasters. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if fans are unhappy with the new announcement. But, it shouldn’t be forgotten that Duffer Brothers have built the biggest Netflix masterpiece with Stranger Things. And as their new production house is pulling off the new Death Note TV series, it might turn out to be a great one.
