Skate 4 Developer Warns Against Accessing Unfinished Build

"This build is from September 2021 and was never intended for external use..."

July 13, 2022

Following the circulation of a leaked build of Skate 4, developer Full Circle has released a blog post warning players against accessing this build.

The Skate 4 closed playtest is in full swing and the series even got its first mini-trailer in 12 years two weeks ago. Amidst the leaks, Full Circle released a blog post thanking players for their support but also issued a warning.

“We’re aware of an earlier version of the game that has been distributed without our authorization. This build is from September 2021 and was never intended for external use. While we understand you’re excited to get into the game, we encourage you to be careful when downloading files from unknown sources (and remind you of the potential consequences of breaking EA’s Terms of Service).”

The developers then encourage readers to sign up for insider playtesting if they want to get their hands on Skate 4 early.

Regardless of the status of the earlier build, the Skate 4 playtest leaks look promising. Skate 4 appears to be set in a California-esque urban area, though the recent trailer does mention “San Vansterdam.” There also seems to be a strong focus on multiplayer, with large groups of players seen playing with each other in both leaked clips and in Full Circle’s trailer.

Based on Full Circle’s general attitude and willingness to push community playtesting, there is a sense that the developer is being fully receptive to the wishes of the Skate community with Skate 4.

It’s likely with this level of community access that in-game footage and new features will continue to be leaked as the game continues to be developed.

The release date of Skate 4 is still unannounced but people suspect it may be close to October 2023 based on the prevalence of Halloween-themed assets seen in playtest leaks.
