Citizen Sleeper's Free DLC Flux Receives Release Date

Help shape the fate of Helion refugees in the first free expansion for Citizen Sleeper

July 13, 2022

Citizen Sleeper is getting its first DLC expansion entitled Flux. It will be out for free on July 28.

Citizen Sleeper is a brilliant narrative game where you play as a synthetic who escapes from corporate servitude onto the station of Erlin’s Eye. The game then becomes a series of choices as you balance survival with rising above a hyper-capitalist ecosystem.

The Flux DLC will add a new storyline to the game whereby refugees from the Helion system begin to arrive on the Eye. These new arrivals are just the beginning of a large flotilla of ships currently en route to seek refuge in your new home. The player will have to decide how to deal with this situation and how to help the refugees before the Eye’s authorities have put a quarantine into effect.

A new character called Eshe will be introduced. This “stubborn spacer” will have her fate interlinked with those of the refugee ships. Fellow Traveller has promised her story will require you to “rely on more than just a roll of the dice to deal with a growing crisis that threatens the entire station.”

Flux is just the first of three planned free expansions for Citizen Sleeper. The stories of these three DLCs will be linked and will expand on the story of the refugees and the Helion system. The roadmap released by Fellow Traveller Games has the next expansion after Flux releasing in October later this year with the third and final expansion set to come out sometime in 2023.

It’s rare for a game developer these days to release fully-free updates for a single-player game but Fellow Traveller are releasing three free content updates which is very commendable behaviour. Citizen Sleeper’s base game, while short, is a very engaging narrative experience.

Flux will be released on July 28 completely free for owners of Citizen Sleeper.
