World Of Warcraft Dragonflight: Dracthyr Customization Options Revealed

The new Class+Race combo is one of the bigger draws of the upcoming WoW expansion, Dragonflight. We now get a deeper look at their potential variety.

July 12, 2022

Thanks to a news post on World of Warcraft’s official website, Blizzard has revealed a few images and videos that show off the visual variety that will be available to players when creating their Dracthyr in Dragonflight. The detailed differences seen in almost every aspect of the race’s figure, from horns, to color, to snout, to scale pattern, do seem to be quite impressive, but pictures will do them much more justice than any description.

World of Warcraft, first released in 2004 by Blizzard, was the first truly massive MMORPG, that popularized the genre to previously unseen heights. It featured a myriad of different gameplay styles, and a shared open-world map, the scale and depth of which had yet to be seen in any online game. After its huge success game, WoW proceeded to drop expansion after expansion on a bi-yearly basis, adjusting game mechanics and adding content, to the point where we are today.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY

Dragonflight is the upcoming 9th expansion set to launch within 2022, and though there’s attention around it, as there always is around WoW, many fans are looking at it with cautious optimism. It’s the general consensus among WoW players that Blizzard has ineffectively addressed fan feedback as the expansions have gone on, especially when it comes to balancing and endgame content. It even reached the point that the developers dropped WoW Classic in 2019, as well as servers of the 2004 version of the game, which was a huge success at release. Players still play WoW Classic to this day, and it recently received fresh realms to motivate players to jump in.

Dragonflight got its first big reveal back in April 2022, which showcased its cinematic trailer, as well as developer interviews that went into detail about the expansion’s new content. This included the expansion’s setting, story, locations, enemies, and of course, the new class and race, the Dracthyr Evoker. Fans initially complained that the Dracthyr form had a physical build that was too slender, however, in the customization Blizzard addressed this feedback by uploading a video which showed off different body types, the latter of which was fairly bulky.

One important aspect of the Dracthyr’s look that has yet to be given a good showcase is the Visage. This is the race’s more human or elf-like form that players can choose to transform to while out of combat. The first trailer did show two or three options but didn’t go nearly as deeply as these Dracthyr images and videos. However, it’s stated these were “just a sampling of the variety of options that players will have at their fingertips to create their Dracthyr Evoker…” so, we’ll simply have to wait to see more.
