Inside & As Dusk Falls Headline New Games Coming To Xbox Game Pass

Playdead's classic Inside, as well as a new Xbox day-one exclusive, As Dusk Falls, will become available on Game Pass before the end of July.

July 18, 2022

Xbox recently revealed new games coming to their Game Pass subscription service, and though what’s most appealing will vary from person to person, the biggest hitters in terms of attention are Playdead’s indie darling Inside, and upcoming title As Dusk Falls.

As Dusk Falls is an interactive story game, which tells the tale of two regular families that are unwillingly entangled in a crime and have to deal with the secrets and drama that follow. The game, which you can learn more about here, is being developed by London-based studio INTERIOR/NIGHT, led by the former lead game designer of Quantic Dream; the studio behind Heavy Rain. As Dusk Falls will be playable for the first time on July 19 and will be available right away on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Inside, a gorgeously animated puzzle side-scroller was studio Playdead’s first monumental hit. Though Inside’s puzzles and action moments are fun, the game’s best aspect is its dark yet calm atmosphere, which comes with many wordless mysteries. Inside will be available a little later, however, coming to the service on July 29. The game first came out in 2016, and many wait anxiously for more information on Playdead’s next title.

These aren’t the only games coming though. Ubisoft title Watch Dogs 2 is coming on July 19. This game succeeds the story of the first game and is set in an open-world San Francisco, which you can interact with via Marcus Holloway’s various hacking abilities. Though it’s the often forgotten middle child of the Watch Dogs series, this sequel, first released in 2016, was praised for improving on the first title, and it sports some fun open-world action.

Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation is coming July 19th as well, however only on PC. This is a large-scale RTS game, where the player has huge armies at their command, which they can use to take over worlds in single-player campaigns, or their friends in multiplayer modes. This title was made by Oxide Games, which is currently developing the recently revealed Ara: History Untold, a turn-based historical strategy game.

MotoGP 22 is yet another addition, which is a motorcycle racing sim that takes its name from the real-life motorcycle racing competition. And finally, there’s Torment: Tides of Numenera, a sci-fi RPG first released in 2017 that relies heavily on its complex worldbuilding and extensive dialogue options. Both games are coming to Game Pass on July 21, however Tides of Numenera will only be available on Xbox consoles.

Buried under the announcement is a list of the games being removed from the service, along with the reminder that players can save up to 20% if they choose to purchase the titles. The titles, all leaving the service on July 31, are as follows; Dodgeball Academia, Katamari Damacy Reroll, Lumines Remastered, Omno, and Raji: An Ancient Epic.
